Investing in the future of investment analysts
Stuart Investments (“SI”) is a student-run, long-only investment fund at the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Stuart School of Business, and is governed by the Board of Directors (“SI Board”). Its purpose is to offer students the opportunity to develop skills in the management and administration of a portfolio of equity investments, incorporating fundamental equity research, portfolio construction, risk management, compliance, as well as maintaining investor-client relations. The SI fund follows a "growth at a reasonable price (GARP)" philosophy and invests in U.S. listed stocks and ETFs. The investment objective is to have a diversified equity portfolio that generates long-term returns in excess of the S&P500 index without a greater level of risk exposure than the index.

HISTORY OF STUART INVESTMENTS
Stuart Investments was founded in 2005 by two graduate students of the school’s finance program. In October 2006, SI received $250,000 of Illinois Tech’s endowment to manage, invest, and reinvest for the benefit of Illinois Tech. Each year, SI recruits more than 40 students from its Stuart School of Business to the organization as sector leaders and sector analysts. Members are grouped into 10 teams which are based on the sectors of the GICS system. Each team conducts research on equities and presents its recommendation to the other members. Since inception, the fund’s portfolio has outperformed its benchmark -- the S&P500 Index, and has more than doubled its net asset value. The net total asset as of June 2015 was $525,530. Stuart Investments has trained students in equity research and portfolio management for more than 10 years and continues to provide students with valuable learning and teamwork experience.
