Arjun Chakravarti is Assistant Professor of Management and Marketing at the Stuart School of Business. His research employs tools from psychology, economics, and statistics primarily toward the study of marketing strategy and managerial decision making.
Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked in the business-to-business e-commerce space and as a consultant to the Colorado Technology Incubator (now C-Tek Ventures). In addition to his academic research, Chakravarti has provided strategic consulting for firms in industries including global education, food, healthcare, media, software, and sustainable development.
In 2012, Chakravarti, along with fellow Stuart faculty members Weslynne Ashton and Liad Wagman, were awarded an IIlinois Tech Educational and Research Initiative (ERIF) grant, the first in Stuart's history. Their proposal, entitled "Agent Based Models as a Platform for Interdisciplinary Research of Complex Social and Business Systems," was funded for $25,000.
In the classroom: "Professor Chakravarti once said to me, 'Think more, write more.' Thinking more is what IIT Stuart School of Business has taught me over the last two years. Arjun and the other marketing analytics faculty have helped me understand that numbers, in any form, from any source, can tell you an interesting story." -- Menaka Alai '13, M.S.
