Haizhi Wang
Assistant Professor of FinanceHaizhi Wang gives much thought to such matters as financial management, entrepreneurship, and regional economic development. "A deeper understanding of financial economics will surely help to allocate scare resources and increase social welfare," he says about his interest in finance as a career path. Wang received his doctorate in finance from the Lally School of Management and Technology at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2008 and joined the IIT Stuart School of Business faculty that same year.
At Stuart, Wang has been researching topics in the fields of corporate finance, financial institutions, and entrepreneurial finance since his arrival. One of his current projects is to assess the financial consequences of strategic alliances, such as the cost of bank loans and access to financial markets, among firms in the United States. He is also working on a project with finance master's students on the exit strategy of venture capital from the country's newly public companies.
Wang's most recent grants are from the Kauffman Foundation and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to support his research investigating the process of new businesses formation in the United States.
The author of several articles in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, Wang serves on the editorial boards of Managerial Finance and the Asian Journal of Finance and Accounting.
