Information For Students
Notable Quote
I hope that my classroom is a place where people can challenge themselves and reap the benefits from finding the fundamental connections between broad-ranging management and social issues.
Notable Vignette
Like others on our faculty, I was first inspired to do research as an undergraduate in economics. Though I had always held an interest in business topics, my economics professors challenged me to work on problems outside of my comfort zone such as a field study of consumption amongst the chronically homeless, an analysis of the geo-politics of energy supply, and finally, a study of immigration patterns in the U.S. If that wasn't enough, they challenged me to take graduate courses in cognitive science, statistics, and qualitative methods to ensure that I evaluated problems through multiple lenses. I was helped a great deal along the way by many people who were generous enough to invest in me. I hope that I can make the same kind of contribution to the lives of my students.
What excites me about Stuart
I was drawn to the Stuart School of Business because of its commitment to research, teaching, and community. The faculty members at Stuart adhere to a research philosophy that marries the best theories and practical tools from multiple intellectual traditions to address critical problems in business and policy. As a teacher, I am very excited to work with students with such diverse cultural background and professional interests.
My Teaching Philosophy
In teaching, I take the view that no one field or methodology is sufficient to understand the full scope of a problem. We only begin to see the full picture by synthesizing these tools and learning how to synthesize the views of every relevant agent in the economy.
My Teaching/Research Interests
I teach MBA-level Marketing, pricing, and negotiations strategy and Introduction to Marketing for undergraduates at the Stuart School. My research focuses on the understanding how cognitive, social, and economic factors drive behavior primarily in marketing and organizational contexts.
