Admission Requirements: Degree

Description: A degree student is any registered full-time or part-time student who submitted an application for admission as a degree student, was accepted by an academic unit at IIT Stuart in a specific degree program, received a formal letter of admission, and is pursuing a degree at any level listed below.

  • Doctoral
  • Master of Science
  • Master of Business Administration
  • Professional Master's
  • Dual Degree

Full-time students take 3 or 4 courses per semester and part-time students take 1 or 2 courses per semester.


Application: The IIT Office of Graduate and Professional Enrollment must receive a completed application and supporting documents in order to consider you as a degree-seeking student.

Admission Requirements: Admission to IIT Stuart School of Business is based on a combined profile of:
  • Past academic performance
  • GMAT or GRE scores
  • Recommendations
  • Essay responses

Applicants to all master's programs, including the MBA, must have completed an undergraduate degree from an accredited university prior to enrollment.

Standardized Test Score Requirements
Master of Mathematical Finance applicants may submit only GRE scores. Applicants to all other programs may submit either GMAT or GRE scores. Following are the minimum scores required for admission consideration to IIT Stuart graduate programs.
  • MBA: 500 GMAT or 1000 GRE
  • MS Environmental Management & Sustainability: 500 GMAT or 1000 GRE
  • MS Finance: 600 GMAT or 1200 GRE
  • MS Marketing Communication: 500 GMAT or 1000 GRE
  • Master of Mathematical Finance: 1200 GRE
  • PhD (Finance or Operations concentration): 650 GMAT or 1300 GRE
Additional Program-Specific Requirements
Environmental Management and Sustainability: Applicants must have completed one semester of general chemistry and mathematics through calculus. If the applicant is deficient in one or both areas, enrollment in the program will be conditional on the deficient area being completed before certain courses are taken.

PhD in Management Science: Applicants must typically have completed a master's degree and the business core at either the graduate or undergraduate level. For applicants who have a master's degree but have not completed the business core, some prerequisite courses will be required.
