Congratulations on your acceptance, and welcome to IIT Stuart School of Business!
Following is a checklist of items all newly admitted students should review and address as necessary prior to the start of the academic term.
In the meantime, we are here to help you with your preparations in any way we can. If you need additional information, or to arrange a classroom visit or one-on-one appointment with an admission representative, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Student Portal Access and Email Account
New IIT students receive a unique identifier (UID) that is also your IIT email username and login for IIT's networking and computing services. Your university-designated student email account will be the official means of communication between you and the university, and (for U.S. students only) will be used to notify you of your financial aid award if you apply for federal financial aid.
You will receive instructions via email for locating your UID and logging in to the myIIT student portal within five days after you are notified of admission. If you have trouble logging in after receiving those instructions, please contact the Office of Technology Services support desk at 312.567.3375 or email@example.com.
International students: Your UID, email account, and student portal access will be activated only after the Office of Graduate Admission has received and processed your required financial support documents.

Health Insurance Requirement
All full-time students, occupants of IIT residence halls, and international students on F-1 or J-1 visas are required to purchase IIT's student health insurance policy. U.S. students have the option to submit proof of equivalent insurance, instead. Eligible students who wish to be considered for an insurance waiver must fill out the Student Health Insurance Waiver form. Part-time students, spouses of students, and/or minor children can purchase insurance, if desired. For more information, visit the Student Health and Wellness Center website or contact that office directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or 312.567.7550.
Students are required to submit proof of immunization against certain communicable diseases to the Student Health and Wellness Center. Individuals who are not properly immunized or who do not have proof of immunization may receive the required immunizations at the Student Health Center for a nominal fee. For more information, visit the Student Health and Wellness Center website or contact that office directly at email@example.com or 312.567.7550.
Course Descriptions and Schedule
Academic Advising and Registration
Registration for classes takes place during orientation. You will have time during orientation to meet with your assigned academic advisor (whose name can be found at the bottom of your official admission letter), but you are welcome to meet with him/her sooner if you wish.
Once you are approved for registration, your advisor will provide the necessary log-in information and instruct you how to register for classes.
International students: You will be permitted to register only after you arrive at IIT Stuart and check in with the International Center at Main Campus.
Information about current graduate tuition and fees is available here. Tuition is due on the first day of classes each term. To learn more about tuition and fee rates, payment methods and payment plans, visit the Bursar's Office website or contact that office directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or 312.567.3794.
Graduate scholarships are awarded to a limited number of highly qualified, full-time students at the time of admission. Scholarship awards are based on merit, and every applicant is automatically considered upon submission of a complete application packet. No additional paperwork is required. If you receive a scholarship, you will be notified of the award in your official admission letter. U.S. students may also be eligible for federal student loans.
Complete information about orientation activities will be posted on the Orientation website near the beginning of the semester. Once we receive your tuition deposit and Intent to Enroll confirmation (see above), you will be added to our Student Affairs email distribution list and will receive orientation updates automatically. Until then, please check the Orientation website frequently for updates.

Additional Steps for International Students
IIT's International Center is here to assist international students as they prepare to begin graduate studies at IIT Stuart. For complete information about international student prearrival procedures, arrival in the U.S., transportation to campus (including free shuttle service from the airport) and check-in requirements, please visit the International Center website or contact that office directly at email@example.com or 312.567.3680.
Financial Support Documents
If you did not submit your financial support documents prior to admission, please submit them as soon as possible. We can create your I-20 only after your valid documents have been received and approved by the Office of Graduate and Professional Enrollment. Please allow at least two weeks from the date we receive your documents for processing. Read complete financial support document submission instructions.
Apply for a Visa and Pay the SEVIS Fee
On the day that we mail your I-20, we will send you an email that provides your SEVIS number and tracking number. Use your SEVIS number to secure your visa appointment as early as possible.
Current visa wait time information is available on the U.S. Department of State website. The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requires a one-time SEVIS fee for all F-1 and J-1 visa applicants. For detailed payment instructions and answers to frequently asked questions, visit the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement website.
International Center Check-In
All international students must check in at the IIT International Center within two business days of their arrival in Chicago. The International Center is located at Main Campus.
Please bring your I-20/DS-2019 form, I-94 card, and passport with you to be processed by staff from the International Center.
International students must arrive on campus no later than the start date listed on their I-20. Only under special circumstances (difficulties in obtaining a visa, unavailability of plane tickets, or family emergency) may students be allowed to arrive after this date. In such cases, students must request permission for late arrival and obtain an approval letter.
If your late arrival is due to visa delay or denial, please use the Intent to Enroll form to notify us of your situation and request an approval letter. If your delay is not related to visa delay or denial, please request approval for late arrival by contacting Tedd Hawks, Credential and Admission Specialist, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Your emailed request, with subject line "Late Arrival Request," must include your full name, IIT applicant ID number, and the reason for your delayed arrival.
